Class 3

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

Luke 18:16

A warm welcome to Class 3 at St. Mary's.

We are a friendly and hardworking Year 3 and 4 class, with Mr. Dalton as class teacher and Miss. Santos as the teaching assistant.  We always strive to achieve our best and demonstrate positive learning behaviours throughout all of our subjects.

This term, we are studying our topic 'The World's Kitchen'.  This topic mainly focuses on the Geography element of the humanities curriculum and as always, we shall be making cross curricular links in other subjects too.  In English, connected to our topic, we are reading 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' by Roald Dahl.

P.E. days

Class 3 have P.E. on a Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Please note that swimming lessons were in the Autumn term only, so for the remainder of the year, we shall be having two P.E. sessions per week.

Weekly homework is as follows:

- Reading school reading books.  Please can children read to an adult regularly as well as reading independently.  Children will have he opportunity to take a comprehension quiz on their book when they have finished reading it.

- Times table practice.  We shall hand out different times tables to practice each week, this will tie in to our in school Times Table Rockstars sessions.

- Spelling practice.  Children will bring home 6 words per week from the Year 3 and 4 spelling list.  You will notice some repetition over the weeks as we shall revisit certain words to help embed the learning.

Half Termly Projects:

We shall be completing half termly topic related project work.  For the first half term, the children have a 'Power Project' sheet where they are able to choose as much or as little as you can complete at home.  The children earn points for completing certain projects and if we get a high class turnout, a class reward may be on offer!

Please return all project work by Friday 18th February 2022.
